Advanced Fertility Techniques At Aarushivf Fertility Clinic

Fertility treatment has seen significant development over the last few decades. It has led to newer and better fertility techniques and possibilities. This is especially great for the couples who have recently discovered that they are not able to conceive a child.

The infertility rate among couples has increased since one in every six couples faces the issue. Either the couple cannot conceive a child or are unable to hold the pregnancy. Hence it leads to repeated miscarriages. So, visiting the best fertility centre in Mumbai can be the saving grace for hopeful couples.

Types Of Fertility Techniques

  1. Assisted Hatching

The embryo has to break out of its outer shell when it is placed in the uterus. The shell known as Zona pellucida may be a little too thick in some cases and inhibits the embryo from breaking out of its covering easily. Women with advanced maternal age are more likely to have a thicker Zona pellucida making the hatching process rather difficult. Hence, it prevents the embryo from implanting within the endometrial lining.

Such an issue is often the case for a failed implantation. So, doctors perform a technique known as assisted hatching to help the embryo break its shell. The process is done by making a small hole in the Zona pellucida before placing it within the uterus. The process is highly delicate and needs to be done with absolute precision by a specialist embryologist. Researchers say the hole will give the embryo a point from which it can begin to break its shell. So, have this treatment done at the best fertility centre in India to achieve favourable results.

2. Blastocyst Transfer

In such a technique, the embryo is transferred to the uterus on the third day after fertilization in the lab. By the third day, the foetus gets transformed into an eight-cell structure. Scientists have found that keeping the embryo in the lab for more extended cultures is a blastocyst structure. It is this structure that is known to have a higher probability of implantation. The embryo becomes a 200-cell blastocyst by the 5th or 6th day.

It has also been seen that the endometrium is much more receptive to having the embryo by the 5th day. It is most likely to happen because the embryo remains in the fallopian tube for a few days during natural conception. The embryo enters the uterus on the 4th or 5th day.

The uterus is naturally more receptive during this period when it is expecting the embryo, as per the natural cycle. Women over the age of 35 years should opt for a blastocyst transfer, and women who have been through failed IVF cycles have a higher chance of getting pregnant with the technique.

3. Endometrial Receptivity Array

Most of the best fertility clinics in Mumbai offer this procedure. An ERA test helps to determine when the embryo is in its most receptive state. The timing for implanting the embryo has to be right because the receptivity of the uterine lining is a must for the successful implantation of the foetus. It has been found that around 25% of women who face implantation failure do so because of an unreceptive uterus.

Women who have experienced an IVF failure resulting from a lack of endometrial receptivity must have an ERA test a few days before their transfer. It will help determine the receptivity of the uterus and give an idea of when it will be at its most receptive state.

4. Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS)

A weak embryo causes implantation failure or a miscarriage. The weakness of an embryo is mostly due to chromosomal abnormalities. A condition known as Aneuploidy occurs when the chromosome number is not correct within the embryo. Usually, the number is less or more by one or two more cells. Hence, hurdle doctors perform a PGS test by removing one or two cells from the embryo and checking the chromosomal count after that.

The PGS test checks the cell count for determining the normalcy of the chromosomes. The test is crucial because an embryo with a chromosomal abnormality will result in a failed IVF cycle.

So, a PGS test is most suitable for couples over the age of 37. It is so because researchers say that the possibility of chromosomal abnormalities in the egg and sperm increases after this age.
